Les Miserables New Haven Theatre reviews
Les Mis, Good but not as good as it gets
Overall, a great performance. However, after all these years and now with the hype of the 25th anniversary touring show, I was let down a bit. Two things: the touring set only used about 1/3 of the stage - why? perhaps it was budget considerations but would have expected the out and out best production we could ever see here! And Jean Valjean- not strong enough to carry the lead - Jarvert was actually stronger. Epinine seem liked a pop singer - not in sync with the rest of the show. So, some important aspects left us a bit disappointed. Great Performance, yes. Just not up to the hype. Perhaps it was the lesser hype on the earlier shows but I had a better experience with the first production I saw probably two decades ago.
